Kinnear: "Me and [coach] Chris Hughton spent 25 years between us at the club, so I am looking forward to it very much.

"They are in a good vein of form at the moment, but so are we. I have yet to lose at home so far, touch wood, and hopefully that will continue."

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has called for Joe Kinnear to keep the Newcastle manager's job beyond the end of the season when his contract runs out.

Redknapp: "Joe's done a great job there, he's another sensible guy who knows the game.

"He's been terrific so I'd like to see him keep the job on a regular basis because he's done well.

"We've got important games coming up - Newcastle, Fulham, West Brom and then Burnley in the Carling Cup.

"It's a chance to get out of the bottom group really, they are all down there with us so they are big games.

"But I haven't set targets, I just want some decent results so I can enjoy my Christmas dinner - it's only as good as my team is doing."
