Graeme Souness came to the defence of Rangers under-fire boss Alex McLeish when he said the Gers boss was working on a "shoestring". Gone are the days when the Scottish giants were one of Europe's big players in the transfer market
Souness, talking to SKY Sports: "I know him as a person and he is a great man. What people don't understand is that Rangers is a different club to when I was there and Walter Smith followed me. We had money to spend. That isn't the case now.
"Results in Europe have been encouraging and I really fancy them to beat Inter Milan and reach the knock out stage. Results in the domestic league have been a disaster, but you have to look at the bigger picture. As you saw against Porto, he was forced to throw on kids."
