Charles N'Zogbia expected to spend much of this season playing a cameo role from the bench, but the untimely departures of both Emre and Albert Luque have given him his chance, and goals against Fulham and Blackburn - the latter a remarkably cool finish for one so young - have rewarded his manager's faith.
Graeme Souness: "We think Charles has a real chance. He is 19 years old and a young man who, if he keeps his feet on the ground, can undoubtedly make the grade.
"When you are a young man coming into the team, nothing is expected of you and you can play with a degree of freedom, which Charles is doing. He does not feel any pressure, and Steven Taylor is in the same boat."
