Smoggy Heading For The Sack

... now those questions have been aswered. The man is simply not good enough.

McClaren, who is certainly using his England manager's "bus pass" (as we see him at every fixture shown on TV) and enjoying the jet-set lifestyle, roared out a message of defiance after his sorry side failed him yet again.

Without a win in five games and in the middle of their worst goalscoring run since 1981, the Three Lions are fast approaching the point of no return in their bid to reach Euro 2008.

McClaren: "There is a great determination among the players to qualify," he said. It is my job to make sure they do it and I have no fear or concern that we won't, none whatsoever.

"We have seven games to go. We know what we have to do. We have to beat Andorra on Wednesday and move on from there.

"Of course you have to carry the fans with you. We understand their frustration. The dressing room was absolutely devastated because we did not win a game we should have done.

"Everyone was questioning whether we would handle the atmosphere and control the game because Israel have such a good home record.

"We achieved that. Apart from the first 20 minutes we dominated. Over the years, I have been involved in many games like this in Europe and international football, when we have got a goal and won 1-0. But our final ball and our final execution let us down and because of that, we failed to win."

Talking of records - he has the worst record of ANY England manager considering his eight games in charge of the team.
