Kick a man when he's down. Ex-Toon hero Les Ferdinand has hit out at Newcastle's recent performances, saying it pains him to watch a side that not so long ago were a side capable of offering a title challenge.
Ferdinand: "Newcastle have had some big name managers in the past, and I thought that Graeme Souness was going to be the one to turn it round for them, but it hasn't happened for him. But he has hardly even been able to field the team he has wanted to.
"I watch a lot of the Newcastle games in my new role with the BBC these days and there seems to be a lack of confidence about them.
"And they are only a shadow of the team they have been in recent seasons."
