Sir Bobby Under BIG Pressure!

Owen's two goals against Russia last month saw him become only the fourth player to hit the 40 mark for the international side.

He needs another five to nose ahead of Jimmy Greaves, and ten to eclipse Sir Bobby Charlton as the most prolific striker in England history.

Owen: "It would be a fantastic achievement but it is something that is still a long way off.

"I keep it in the back of my mind because I keep telling myself that I have played for England for nearly 10 years now and I have scored 40 goals, which is an average of four a year.

"If that is the case, should I stay fit, maintain my form and stay in the team, I am still over two years from doing it. Two weeks is a long time in football, let alone two years.

"The only thing that is occupying my mind at the moment is qualifying. I sat back and watched the first half of the qualifying campaign with itchy feet and a brace around my knee. I have been wanting to get out there and it's great to have the chance to play."

"I am not one to mope but I do convince myself of things.

"I just believe it will make me last longer or make me hungrier. I genuinely believe that the form I've been in since my injury means that in a funny kind of way what has happened is a godsend."
