Sir Bobby to stand by Cort

Last updated : 06 November 2002 By Martyn Elliott

Cort is set to start for the first time this season against Everton tonight and Sir Bobby has chosen to publicly back the troubled striker.

"The club will be very supportive of Carl Cort as they would with any player who has problems off the field," said Sir Bobby.

"Carl has been very unfortunate with injuries, but we paid a lot of money for him and we think he is a very good player. He is at the age where he should be a very good player for us."

Let’s hope that Cort will be able to repay his manager’s faith in him by regaining the form that he showed on his rare appearances during his first season with us.
