Sir Bobby is the boss

Charlton boss Alan Curbishley has been waxing lyrical about Sir Bobby’s qualities ahead of Saturday’s clash at the Valley.

"I think he’s a one-off when you look at English managers," claimed the Addicks boss.

"Apart from Terry Venables when he went to Barcelona, not many English managers have gone abroad, but he has gone to a couple of foreign sides. It’s fantastic what he has achieved.

"When Bobby took over at Newcastle there was relegation trouble about. They had problems after Robert Lee and Alan Shearer got left out and they were third from bottom, but his record since then must be championship form.

"He’s so enthusiastic about everything. People were calling him Sir Bobby Robson before he was knighted, he is held in such esteem."
