The Frenchman was released at the end of last season and joined Wigan, but he certainly showed where his heart was yesterday.

Newcastle fan James Maxwell e-mailed us yesterday:

"Please can I put Antoine Sibierski forward as a Newcastle United Legend.

"A strange shout for, in all honesty, a mediocore talent who spent just one
year at the club...

"But after hearing his post match interview today I unreservedly love the
guy and always will.

"After scoring for Wigan against The Mackems today, Antoine said he enjoyed
it so much because he is and always will be a Newcastle supporter after
his year with us.

"It shows how some footballers value the support we give the team on a very
deep level.

"Antoine for the Hall of Fame. Cheers, James Maxwell."

Wigan's Emile Heskey and Antoine Sibierski proved too hot to handle at the JJB Stadium as they guided the Latics to a 3-0 Premier League win over Sunderland.

The new strike pair caused the Sunderland defence no end of problems as Wigan followed up their midweek home victory over Middlesbrough with another convincing performance.

Heskey gave the home side a 19th-minute lead with a predatory strike, before two penalties in nine minutes midway through the second half by Denny Landzaat and then Sibierski sealed Wigan's second win in four days.

Sibierski maintained his impressive record of scoring in each of Wigans three games this season since his free transfer from Newcastle.
