Shola Ameobi: “I’ve been out for a few months and it might be a tough ask to play two games in three days but we’ll see how my body recovers.

“I was a little bit stiff after the game. Hopefully I recover all right and get a chance to be involved.

“I’ve worked hard to get my fitness as high as I can for playing in games. I’m happy.

"It’s going to be tough for me to recover as quickly as I would like but I couldn’t be happier. I’ve come back in, scored a couple of goals, and as a striker that always helps.

"I’m just delighted to be part of this promotion push.

“It’s going to be tough now.

“I’ve been out for a while and I’ve dropped down in the goal pecking order.

"They (Carroll, Lovenkrands and Nolan) are still scoring and playing really well. I’m just first and foremost delighted to be back playing in games again.

“I’m trying to do all I can in the context of us trying to win. I want to score as many goals as I can and that hasn’t changed from the first game of the season.”
