Shepherd And Hall In Meeting?

Is Mark Viduka the next Newcastle United number nine? One website asks the question.

Our mates over at ask if we should listen to transfer rumours these days, or wait for the new manager to arrive. An interesting point, especially as Douglas Hall is back in town and rumours say he is set for a meeting with Freddy Shepherd early this week.

It could simply be a business update ... but are we really that naive to believe it? Souness has already laid the ground for his sacking saying "I'm not concerned, there are more important things in life".

The Magpies tried to sign ex-Leeds United Mark Viduka back in the summer, and rumour has it Newcastle will try and tempt him away from the Riverside in January. But the player has dismissed talk of a move away from Middlesbrough.

Viduka: "I am happy here. I'm pleased with the way things are going even though Boro have not seen the best of me. There is plenty more to come.

"Virtually half of my season was wiped out last year. It was disappointing when I got my hamstring injury at Christmas because I wanted to make a big impact."

Should we take any transfer interest with a pinch of salt these days, until we know who will be the Newcastle manager in January? POLO SHIRTS FOR XMAS
