Sheffield Wednesday Want Kluivert

Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws sees the Dutchman as the man to lead the Championship side back into the top flight, and "shift" a large number of season tickets.

But he had better be warned, Kluivert has not been a world class player for years.

Barcelona gave him the perfect stage to win medals, but he let them down, just as he has every club since. And his international career ended when he fell out with the coach.

So what can Sheff Wed give him that he hasn't already had? He can no longer demand the ridiculous £110,000-per-week wages he got at Nou Camp, and even Newcastle wouldn't go above £60,000 (with Barca making up the rest).

Michael Chopra said he was "gutted" to be sold when he wanted to stay at Newcastle, saying "heartless players like Albert Luque and Patrick Kluivert were ahead of me, and neither could care less about our club!"

Kluivert made 37 appearances for Newcastle, scoring seven goals.
