Shearer honoured by Premier League

Obviously he won the most goals award and to that he added the Outstanding Achievement award and the Domestic Player of the Decade title.

The awards were chosen by a combination of a public vote and a panel of ‘experts’, so its good to see that despite the poor reception he gets at a lot of grounds Shearer does have the respect of the country’s fans.

Eric Cantona picked up the Overseas Player award, while the winner of the overall Player of the Decade award has yet to be announced.

Gary Speed collected an award for making the most Premiership appearances, while Match of the Decade was our first 4-3 defeat at Liverpool (although I’m sure that beating Man U 5-0 was more enjoyable than that!), and Quote of the Decade went unsurprisingly to Kevin Keegan for his now legendary "I’ll love it if we beat them" rant.
