Matz Sels deleted his Twitter account in the wake of Newcastle United's draw at Villa Park.

But put it back online after deleting abusive messages from Newcastle fans.

After Darlow's impressive performance against Wolves on Tuesday night, many Newcastle fans cannot understand why Rafa persists with a keeper who is struggling in this Division.

An 88th-minute goal from Aston Villa substitute Aaron Tshibola saw Rafa Benitez's side held to a 1-1 draw last night.

Sels, signed from Belgian club Gent in the summer, was blamed by some for failing to deal with the corner for Tshibola's header. And a number of fans messaged Sels on Twitter after the defeat.

Sels deactivated the social media account.

The Villa result left Newcastle fifth in the Championship ahead of Wednesday night's home game against league leaders Norwich City.
