Skipper Mark Viduka scored two crucial second-half goals to give Australia a 4-0 win over Thailand to stay alive in the Asian Cup.

Striker Viduka scored twice in three minutes to give the Australians their first win to set up a quarter-final with Japan in Hanoi on Saturday.

Defender Michael Beauchamp and substitute Harry Kewell scored the other goals.

They needed the win to ensure they progressed in the tournament after drawing 1-1 with Oman and losing 3-1 to Iraq.
