Southampton have won the battle for Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld, beating Newcastle and Sunderland to his signature.
The Magpies were seen as as favourites to land the centre-back but Saints boss Ronald Koeman has lured the defender to St Mary's Stadium.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham have been linked with the former Ajax man in the past, but none of the three ever made an offer.
Alderweireld moved to Atletico Madrid from Ajax last summer and they won the Primera Division title.
