Rumour round-up

The strongest rumour doing the rounds at the moment seems to be that Sir Bobby is keen to sign Auxerre and France attacking midfielder Olivier Kapo.

The 23-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has confirmed that he will leave the Stade Abbe-Deschamps in June 2004, with United apparently keen to open talks about a pre-contract agreement in January.

Kapo is far from being prolific goalscorer in Le Championnat, netting just six times last season, but certainly looked the part when scoring against Arsenal in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, The People would have us believes that Nobby Solano is off to Spurs as part of a swap deal for Stephen Carr - it’s all David Pleat’s idea apparently.

But another swap deal involving Nobby has been mooted this time involving Barcelona striker Patrick Kluivert, although the Dutchman’s position this week is that he’s happy at the Nou Camp but that may have changed by Thursday!

Given the choice of the two moves, does anyone think Nobby would fancy laying on chances for Bobby Zamora and Helder Postiga to miss rather than taking in some Catalonian Sunshine?

Wolves boss Dave Jones is reportedly keen to sign Steve Harper to replace injury-victim Matt Murray - which would appear to mean that Wolves want to sign Harper to make up for their lack of adequate goalkeeping cover, thereby leaving us without adequate goalkeeping cover.

And one really strange report has Partizan Belgrade boss Lothar Matthaus being lined up as Sir Bobby’s replacement, a story that the German World Cup winner strongly denies.
