Andy Carroll scored an equaliser but missed a penalty after City had snatched an early lead in front of just 310 people.

United extended their unbeaten run to four matches in all competitions after the stalemate in the FA Premier Reserve League.

Newcastle fielded a strong side including first team squad players Carroll, Sebastien Bassong and David Edgar.

Hull's Ryan Kendall struck the post (10 mins) then former Bolton and Greece star Stelios side-footed home from close range after Nicky Featherstone's centre after 33 minutes.

United were level two minutes into the second half when Carroll headed home at the front post following a Bassong cross from the left.

Bassong was then pulled back in the box on 54 minutes with ref Tony Harrington pointing to the spot.

But Carroll's penalty was saved by the Hull goalkeeper.
