Glenn Roeder, who handed Andy Carroll his Newcastle debut during his time on Tyneside, says he would love to see the young striker at Carrow Road ... even if only on loan.

The Canaries manager wants him on loan as Jamie Cureton is currently sidelined after having his appendix removed.

But Ipswich, City's main rivals, are also interested.

Peter Harrison (Carroll's agent): "Andy is certainly interested in Norwich

"I'm going to sit down and assess the situation with Andy and talk it through, but a lot of it would depend on whether [Newcastle manager] Kevin Keegan gives it the go-ahead.

"There are other clubs interested in Andy with Ipswich being one of them."
