Roeder Set To Take Over At QPR!

Roeder has not worked since being handed his P45 by then-Toon chairman Freddy Shepherd back in May, but he says he is eager to get back into management.

Roeder, who was club captain under Terry Venables at Loftus Road in the 1980s, will be interviewed today, reports the Daily Mirror.

Roeder lead Queens Park Rangers to the 1982 FA Cup Final, which they lost to Tottenham, but he is still a very popular figure at the club.

He now emerged ahead of Gianluca Vialli to take the QPR hotseat as the favoured candidate of owners Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore following Monday's departure of John Gregory.

Roeder, however, has not got a good CV in management. He was in charge of both West Ham and Watford when they were relegated, and was sacked as boss of Gillingham when he took them to 92nd in the Football League.

His time at Newcastle was patch ... at best ... and he failed to take the club into Europe last season.
