Roeder Laughs Off London Rumours

Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder laughed of the story that Tottenham are set for an approach for Damien Duff. They claim the ex-Chelsea player is unhappy on Tyneside and is looking for a move back to London ... which is utter rubbish!

Republic of Ireland international Duff close to fitness and says he cannot wait to return to wearing the black and white.

Roeder: "We have read the reports of Spurs wanting Damien Duff over the weekend, but we have heard nothing from them.

"In any case, they must know they are wasting their time. Why would we sign Damien Duff in the close season and then sell him on before that season is over?

"We are trying to build a good squad here at Newcastle United and Duff is very much part of our plans."

So Martin Jol can look elswhere.
