With lifelong Canaries Peter Cullum willing to plough £20m into Norwich City's coffers, Glenn Roeder now has the financial clout to compete in the race for Shola Ameobi's signature. But he has pulled out of the race.
Ameobi has been linked with several clubs, and Roeder has been chasing him since he moved to Carrow Road last season.
But, just when a deal seemed to be done, Ameobi prefered a move to West Brom ... who have since changed their mind on the former England Under-21 international.
Ameobi, himself, had second thoughts when he was expected to join Stoke City, and now Roeder has called "time" on a player who obviously is half-hearted at joining his club.
So that just leaves Ipswich Town, who could be back in the race, after West Brom pulled out of a £3m deal to sign the Newcastle United striker.
