Shay Given refused to answer Keane's amazing outburst that the Newcastle goalkeeper has played too many games for Newcastle. But Glenn Roeder was happy to make a comment.

Glenn Roeder: "As far as I am concerned, Shay Given is the perfect professional.
"I just wish that every player I managed had Shay Given's enthusiasm to play in every game.

"When he is injured he does not want to miss even one game, and I just cannot see what is wrong with that."

Given will skipper the Republic of Ireland in tonight's Euro Championship qualifier with Slovakia at Croke Park tonight when he wins his 80th cap. This equals Pat Bonner's record of caps for an Irish keeper.
