Robert staying put

After a very poor start to the season Robert has at times managed to reproduce his form of last season, and with the team looking better balanced when he’s available the news that he isn’t planning to leave is welcome.

"We have a very young group of players at the club and after what they have been through this year I'm optimistic that we'll achieve more in the future," he told The Journal.

"Of course we need to recruit again this summer to compete with Manchester United and Arsenal but I'm sure that will happen.

"From a personal point of view I've had two great years at the club. We finished fourth last season and we're third now so I have no regrets about the move.

"It's great to be a part of making Newcastle one of the best sides in the Premiership but what really excites me is the prospect of getting even better next season.

"I see no reason to move anywhere else. We have the final match of the season to come and we want to finish on a high note, but after that we can start dreaming about next season. You never know what will happen in football but I intend to be a United player for some time."
