Robert Set To Leave?

Laurent Robert could be set to leave Newcastle United after he revealed his unhappiness since the arrival of Graeme Souness.

Quoted in The Sun, Robert said, ‘I’ve always felt happy at Newcastle. But things have gone a bit different for me since we got a new manager. It’s hard for me to know why I have been left on the bench and there is no reason why I should be sub’.

If Robert is struggling to find reason then he need look no further than Souness’ impressive start to validate the decision to leave him out. Newcastle remain unbeaten thus far under the Scot’s tenure.

Robert has however impressed since coming off the bench. It appears Souness is getting the best out of our enigmatic Frenchman and a return to the starting eleven may witness a return of his complacent approach.

Robert continued, ‘I am not satisfied with Newcastle’s start. I have been at the club four years now and we always struggle to get going’. May we remind Robert that he did indeed start all of our early season encounters. Since his omission from the first team our fortunes have changed – especially on our travels. We have however missed the width he provides at St.James Park. His second half introduction at home to WBA certainly affected the outcome of the game.

If Souness’ arrival has made Robert realise that the left wing spot is not his own then we will hopefully see a hungrier, more determined player. Robert on form, a rare yet exciting occurrence, makes a big difference to our team. When Robert is on song we invariably achieve victory.
No doubt the likes of Marseille will now be monitoring the situation closely.
