Robert says he is eager for a return to the Premier League having left Greek club Larissa by mutual consent.

He moved to St James' Park for £10m in 2001 under the Sir Bobby Robson reign and had an up-and-down career.

How can we forget the time he was dropped for the Tyne-Wear derby at the Stadium Of Shite and he tried to stom out of the stadium.

Allegedly he walked straight into a mob of Mackems as he went looking for a taxi, and they "encouraged" him to go back inside and make up with Sir Bobby.

Robert, 35, only featured in six league matches for Larissa, but he is still ready to carry on his professional career and is keen to move back to England for one last crack at the Premier League.

Don't expect Pardew to "jump at the chance" of getting him back.
