Robert - 'I'd Love To Play For Toon Again!'

Speaking from Valencia, where he is now playing for struggling La Liga outfit Levante, Robert looks back on his days at St James' Park with fondness.

But Sir Bobby Robson once described him as the most "difficult player I have ever worked with".

Robert was superb in his early days at St James' Park following his £9m transfer from Paris St Germain in 2001.

But since leaving United, the 32-year-old has rather lost his way at Portsmouth, Benfica and now Levante.

Robert: "I loved my time with Newcastle United and I would love to come back into the Premier League with them.

"I was really surprised when I heard Nobby Solano had left Newcastle again.

"He really loved playing for the club and he must have had a very good reason for leaving."

French player who was a last minute signing from Paris St Germain after Zenden let down Bobby Robson and joined Chelsea rather than Newcastle.

Tricky left-winger who started brilliantly, but suffered after a game against Liverpool when Jamie Carragher kicked him from one end of the field to the other.

Went through a lull, but pulled himself out of it. Cost £9.5m. Had trouble with Robson because he insisted telling the world his thoughts on his website.

Souness arrived and said he was a waste of talent because he only looked good going forward.

Joined Portsmouth in 2005 but left with a parting shot for Souness.
