Rob Elliott Or Fraser Forster?

A good move or bad?

As time shows, Forster has been called up by England, and there are still a few Toon fans unconvinced by Elliot.

Both are in the news today ...

FRASER FORSTER

sCeltic have written to a European rival - believed to be Benfica - to warn them off attempts to sign goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

The Parkhead club have been angered by attempts to lure the Englishman, who was this week named in Roy Hodgson's squad for the Three Lions up-coming World Cup qualifiers with Moldova and Ukraine.

Forster has already been heavily linked with a move to the Stadium of Light in Lisbon, but Hoops boss Neil Lennon sees the former Newcastle stopper as integral to his plans for the club's Champions League clashes with AC Milan, Barcelona and Ajax.

The 25-year-old was a key figure in last year's run to the last 16 in the competition and Lennon insists Foster is going nowhere.

The Celtic manager told the Scottish Daily Mail: "Fraser's not for sale. We had no confirmed bids for him. We have actually written a letter to one club, just warning them off basically."

ROB ELLIOT

Alan Pardew will make a late call on who dons the gloves against Fulham today with his No 1 Tim Krul doubtful to face the Cottagers.

sThe Dutch international is nursing a groin problem going into the clash with Martin Jol’s side.

But Pardew has plenty of faith in Rob Elliot – outstanding against Morecambe in midweek – if Krul misses out.

Alan Pardew: “We will see how he goes.

“The other fella (Elliot) has been terrific. He’s come in under the radar.

“We brought him for a few hundred grand which was nothing really. Everybody thought he was worth that for a reason.

“But he’s a much better player than that.

“He’s comfortable round the lads here.

“And we’ve accepted him for the Premier League goalie that he is.

“So I’ve got no problem if Robbie if he has to play.

“Some of the decisions he made against Morecambe were brilliant.

“On crosses he punched a couple and he stayed for a couple.

“That’s important and he’s good at that.”

ELLIOT OF FORSTER? Forster for me!
