Reasons to be cheerful

So here are five reasons to be cheerful:

  1. After losing to Hereford in the FA Cup in 1972 our next game was a 2-0 win over Man United at Old Trafford – a good omen perhaps.
  2. We’re fourth in the Premiership and are in the last 16 of the Champions League, despite the state of the defence.
  3. Sunderland are still in the relegation zone.
  4. Alan Shearer is the Premiership’s joint top scorer and is in the best form of his Newcastle career.
  5. Lee Bowyer is joining West Ham, meaning stories of him coming to St James’ Park are untrue.
