Rafael Benitez has distanced himself from rumours linking him with West Ham and remains focused on Newcastle.
The Hammers continue to be linked with the Spaniard as doubts surround the future of under-pressure Slaven Bilic, who could be in severe danger of the sack if they do not take all three points against Swansea this weekend.
Following a disappointing summer of transfer activity, when a number of targets slipped by the wayside, it was suggested Benitez could walk away from the Magpies, with West Ham waiting in the wings.
However, as far as Benitez is concerned, he has a job to do at Newcastle.
When asked if his future is in doubt, he replied: “No, at the moment I am only focused on the games and improving the team we have. My background is a coach, not a manager, I have been working all my life as a coach to improve players. It is what I like to do.
“Yes, you have to have a plan. Then you have to have ideas, then try to implement these ideas. We will have conversations about what we want to do but, at the moment, we have some time until January to be sure what we want to do in terms of football is done.
“Then it depends on us trying to achieve what we want to achieve in every training session and every game.”
