Officers are continuing to probe claims which saw the 20-year-old striker arrested at Bigg Market club Blu Bambu, in Newcastle, last month.
The soccer star was seen being led from the nightspot in handcuffs following an alleged bust-up in the early hours of December 7.
Claims later emerged a glass had been used in the alleged scrap.
It is understood Carroll will answer police bail on the matter in February.
The alleged victim is from Bensham, Gateshead.
Paramedics confirmed a man was taken to Newcastle General Hospital with head injuries following the incident, then later discharged.
