Portsmouth will be without Laurent Robert and Lomana LuaLua for the visit of Newcastle. Winger Robert is ineligible as part of the deal which took him to Pompey from St James' Park in the summer while striker LuaLua, a former Magpie, has been hospitalised by malaria.
Midfielder Gary O'Neil is expected to shake off a leg injury in time to start but although midfielder Zvonimir Vukic has resumed training following an ankle injury he is unlikely to feature.
Manager Alain Perrin has hinted he will recall Norway striker Azar Karadas ahead of the Bulgarian Svetoslav Todorov but Linvoy Primus (knee) and Aliou Cisse (ankle) remain sidelined.
