Northumbria Police are expecting trouble in areas where Mags and Mackems have a reputation for 'mixing it'.

Sergeant Alf Stewart: "The vast majority of people are very well behaved, but we will be out and about to provide extra support to law-abiding citizens.

"We will be going into pubs in South Shields, Jarrow and Hebburn, to make sure the match stays trouble free.

"We will have officers on stand-by in case there is any bother at the stadium too."

Kick-off is at 8pm and the match will be screened on Setanta.
