Missiles were thrown between rival fans and at police as brawls spilled out onto the pitch.

Trouble flared after the match with a police horse being hit by a firework and a British Transport Police officer suffering a broken wrist.

About 300 seats were also ripped out by angry Toon fans some of which were used as missiles.

A police spokesman said: "A number of names have been put forward and they are now being looked at by the inquiry team.

"No arrests have been made yet, but we are very pleased with the results of the appeal so far."
