Yes, the one and only Peter Reid has thrown his hat into the ring to replace Roy Keane as Sunderland manager.

And we Newcastle fans intend to block the Mackem messageboards with a campaign to get the bugger back!

Reid was in charge of the Mackems between 1995 and 2002 and is currently the coach of Thailand.

Reid, who was installed as Thailand boss in September on a four-year contract and is currently in charge of the team at the Suzuki Cup, revealed that he has a clause in his contract which would allow him to return to the Stadium of Light and hold talks with chairman Niall Quinn.

Reid (talking to the Daily Mail): "I would be interested.

"It's fantastic in Thailand and the experience has already improved me but everyone aspires to work in England. It's the place to be. The players here dream about it and I know I won't be working abroad forever.

"There is a clause in my contract which allows me to speak to English clubs if they show interest, so that would be up to Niall Quinn."
