The midfielder has yet to play a competitive game for The Hammers since his £7million switch from The Magpies in the summer.

He has been sidelined with a knee injury, but played 90 minutes for the reserves against Portsmouth in midweek.

Reserve-team coach Kevin Keen: "There was a boost in that Scotty Parker played the full 90 minutes and came through okay."

Parker had an 'up and down' career at St James' Park.

He was made skipper of the side but fell out with a section of the East Stand for a couple of 50-50 tackles (right by the touchline) that - how can we put it - he added a couple of steps to let the opponent get there first.

I'm not suggesting he "bottled it" ... but I'll leave you with his words ... Scott Parker: "I have just come back from injury and I had to be careful".
