And as first team members headed for Leeds on Saturday for the pre-season friendly at Elland Road to be played the following day ... poor Nile was banished to play with Youth team players at Spennymoor.

His fall-out with Pardew dropped to a new low, as the Toon boss was allegedly unhappy that the striker snubbed a move to Blackpool when both clubs had agreed a price.

Ranger was the star attraction at Spennymoor and produced two goals to hand a Newcastle United XI a 4-2 win, but he was the only player with any true Premiership pedigree.

West Ham United are understood to be monitoring the situation surrounding Toon striker Nile Ranger.

The Chronicle understands that the Hammers are interested in making Ranger their second addition of the summer from Newcastle, following the purchase of Kevin Nolan in June.

The 20-year-old has been told he can leave St James’ Park this summer and he openly admits his fall-out with the Newcastle manager is beyond repair.

West Ham have yet to submit an official bid for Ranger, yet there is interest from former United boss Sam Allardyce who has a reputation for bringing out the best of young players who have lost their way.
