Pardew - Blame The Manager - Not The Player!

We all know what "Spiderman" can do - we've seen him a hell of a lot more games than Pardew has - and Gutierrez is NOT a central midfielder or left-back, or anywhere else the gaffa plays him other than winger.

s

Pardew had a go at Gutierrez earlier in the season because he was like a fish out of water in the middle of the park, and the Argentina international didn't take too kindly to being blasted in public.

And many believe THAT was the reason why the player went off the boil.

Alan Pardew: “Jonas answered a few critics – I thought he was fabulous.

“Everybody gets a lift when you bring new players in, and I think Jonas is an example of that.

“It’s a difficult situation at home. We’ve got 52,000 here. They demand, and he delivered.

“He should get a reward off them, and quite right too.

“He’s a good player, but he’s been running on empty, and lacking a bit of confidence and belief because the team hasn’t been strong enough.

“It’s disappointing for players like him.

“Sometimes when you bring new players in, it’s only right that you give him a chance and say ‘come on then, we’ve got a proper team now – come and show your true form’.

“He did that, and I’m pleased for him. I’m very proud of him.”
