The fixture clashes with Middlesbrough’s trip to Sheffield United and the Police are understandably concerned about the possibility of disturbances between the four rival groups of supporters.
Wednesday are now awaiting a decision from the police as to whether or not the game can go ahead as scheduled.
Owls chief executive Alan Sykes told their official website: "We are in discussions with South Yorkshire Police to seek agreement for the game to go ahead."
