Owen Will Decide When First Offer Comes In

... let's see what what the England international does then.

Manchester United are supposedly set to 'test the water' with an offer of Alan Smith (who interests Allardyce) plus £4m. And that is something Big Sam can put in his pipe and smoke, because the most he will get for Owen under his current 'dodgy' contract is £9m.

Owen has still not said a word about staying, and with  Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres's wage demands (it will cost Liverpool £58million) rumour is the Reds are set to tempt Owen back home.

They claim the Spain international has asked for a six-year contract worth £31.2million to move to Anfield - and that comes on top of the £27million fee the Reds are expected to pay Atletico.

It is all quiet on the north-eastern front, but let's see what happens when Manchester Utd, Liverpool or Arsenal come out of hiding.
