ENGLAND: Robinson, Richards, Ferdinand, Terry, Ashley Cole, Wright-Phillips (Bentley 83), Gerrard (Neville 71), Barry, Joe Cole, Heskey (Johnson 71), Owen.

Steve McClaren's England overwhelmed Israel with Shaun Wright-Phillips scoring his first competitive goal for the Three Lions put them on the road to a convincing win before half-time. Then Michael Owen and Micah Richards completing a one-sided triumph after the break.

There were heroes in every department of the England team.

Emile Heskey, the whipping boy for years because of his below average goal-tally for England, walked off to a standing ovation from an enthusiastic and delighted crowd.

Owen crashed a volley straight into the face of Israeli keeper Dudu Aouate, who also saved well from impressive full-back Richards and Ashley Cole.

Joe Cole was the architect for the first goal, winning possession close to the Israel box. Wright-Phillips' finish was executed to perfection even though Israel were convinced the Chelsea man was offside.

Gareth Barry created the opportunity with a rolled pass into Owen's feet.
Stood on the edge of the box with his back to goal, Owen still had plenty to do. Yet, with an inspired first touch, the Newcastle forward gave himself the chance to turn and smashed his 38th England goal into the top corner.

Richards rose to power home Gerrard's corner to complete the 3-0 win.
