Out-Thought Out-Fought ... But Toon Luck Could Be In!

The last 20 minutes of the match was one-way traffic as Pompey showed more passion and pride and put the Magpies under the cosh.

It was painful to watch. The visitors struck the post and that could be the moment that turns Alan Shearer's season.

If it had gone in it would have been the final nail in the coffin ... but it stayed out ... and Shearer could look back on it as the second that saved the club.

We got a point, and who knows how important that could be.

Alan Shearer: "I don't know if that's going to be a good point or a bad point. What I can guarantee is that there will be more twists and turns.

"Four games in football is a hell of a long time. Yes, I am disappointed we haven't won the game, and the players are.

"But we created enough to have won it. If one of the chances had gone in, it would have been a different story.

"But I don't know what's going to (be enough to) stay up. I don't know the points total - no-one does, particularly with the way results are going this season.

"But we have got to stick in there, we have got to keep on fighting and we will."
