Businessman Geoff Sheard has confirmed he is fronting a bid by a mystery American company to buy Newcastle.
Sheard, who tried unsuccessfully to take over at Sheffield Wednesday last season, claims to have been in talks with the Yanks.
You can believe him ... or you can say he's talking out of his arse (which is most probably true) ... but the guy is out to make a name for himself.
Not only are the Yanks out to dominate the world, but (according to Sheard) ... "there is a little piece up there in bonny old Eng-er-land that could do with some American spirit".
God forbid, has it come to this?
Sheard told the Evening Chronicle: "It's not me who is buying the club - that should be made very clear.
"I have put together a package for a group who want to come in and take over the club.
"That's what they want to do, given the opportunity to do so.
"Talks have been going on for a couple of weeks now."
Owner Mike Ashley, we hear ... is as sceptical as ourselves.
This just seems like another dickhead with a pipe-dream.
He couldn't buy Sheffield Wednesday, but it made him a few headlines, and that seems to be the story here.
