Odds Slashed As Keegan Linked With Sunderland!

But the big news today is the Sunderland bookmaker who has slashed the odds on Kevin Keegan getting Roy Keane's old job from 50/1 to 20/1 because of heavy betting.

Keegan is currently having a court battle with Mike Ashley over his sacking from the Toon job back in September, and that has been the problem getting him reinstated as Newcastle boss.

Prospective buyers have been concerned about buying Newcastle United, bringing back KK, only to find the former England boss claiming £8m in compensation from the club.

Would Sunderland consider him? According to the unusual betting, there could be something in it.

But Allardyce is still the favourite for the job, with odds of 6/4.

Allardyce: "I've said over the last few days that I would like to get back into managing a football club and I'm bound to be linked with Sunderland at the moment.

"There's been no official contact, but I know what a great club it is. I've worked there twice before; once as a player and once as a coach with Peter Reid, so I know what it needs. But we'll just have to wait and see.

"There have been one or two positions I've talked about, but I haven't felt it was right for me to go at that particular time or for whatever reason which obviously stays confidential but I really feel I'm ready now.

"Having done almost 16 years on the trot in management terms, I felt I needed a break and the break had to be long enough for me to get ready and come back in with all guns blazing."
