‘Any O’Brien’ rings out in the away end
The 1,900 Newcastle fans who made the trip down to the John Smith’s Stadium had an evening to remember and they certainly enjoyed themselves.
Not only did they sing the Benitez songs, they also chanted, “We’re Newcastle and we’re going to win the league”, before breaking out into a five-minute chorus of ‘Any O’Brien’.
Why the final song, I am not entirely sure - but I think it was a dig at the Mackems. Liam O'Brien is famous for his two goals against the "Unwashed" and Andy O'Brien struck one too.
Any dig at Sunderland is a victory.
