There are no surprises on the list, which comprises Nikos Dabizas, Clarence Acuna, Robbie Elliott, Jamie McClen and Wayne Quinn.
Dabizas is the highest profile of the players having made 130 Premiership appearances and memorably scoring a winner at Sunderland. But the Greek international has fallen out of favour since the arrival of Jonathan Woodgate and is keen to play first team football, and there will be no shortage of interested clubs.
Elliott made just two Premiership appearances last season, McClen one, Acuna four and Quinn none, so the decision to place them on the transfer list was not unexpected.
Whether or not the news gives any clues as to this summer’s transfer targets is uncertain, but the likelihood of a left back and a holding midfielder arriving may well have increased.
