Not Another 'Wonder Kid' For Toon?

The Paris-born youngster captained PSG at the tender age of 17, a French record, and has also skippered France Under-17s.

The defender is rumoured to be interested in moving to England.

Why do we not get excited by it?

The problem with high flying "wonder kids" is they arrive with massive reputations and expect to jump straight into the team ... get a good kicking in the Premiership ... then bugger off abroad.

Remember "the greatest prospect in South American football since Maradona" ... Diego Gavalan? Then "the greatest prospect in European football since Eusabio" ... Hugo Vianna?

So don't hold your breath on some French teenage sensation. We're in the process of gretting rid of one right now ... Charles N'Zogbia.

Diego Antonio Gavilan Zarate came from Paraguay and became the first player from his country to play in the Premiership. Cost £1m from Cerro Porteno but was never been as good as his reputation. Was supposed to be the best youngster in South American football. We've heard that one before. Moved to Mexico on loan in December 2001, then stayed there in 2003.

Portuguese international, joined Newcastle for £8.5m when only 19. Described by Bobby Robson: "He will become a legend". Sadly it wasn't with Newcastle. Went back to Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan in 2004. And left the club in a ridiculous cut price deal in 2005.
