Kevin Nolan: “Shola tried to claim it! I don’t like nicking goals – and never would – but obviously it needed that little backheel.

“It was nice to see it go in, and it was nice doing the quack, quack in front of all those fans.

“Four goals over the two games is fantastic, and I’m delighted with that.

“It’s just great – the fans warm your heart. I want to be able to come back in 10 or 15 years and watch a game, and everyone to shake my hand.

“Hopefully, I can keep on getting better in the years I’ve got left.

“It was definitely two points lost – we were absolutely gutted at the end.

“You’ve got to take it on the chin. They’ve had the most unbelievable luck for that to go in. We feel we deserved to win the game. We bossed it from start to finish.

“We were fairly comfortable throughout the game. You’ve got to see things out. We’re in the Premier League, and we know what to expect.

“They threw everything at us including the kitchen sink, and they got their reward in the end.

“Fair play to them, they probably didn’t expect to play as badly as they did, but they threw everything at us and got a result in the end.

“We had a great atmosphere at our place, and they knew they had to do something special to get their lads up for it, and they did.

“Their fans were fantastic, and ours were truly amazing.

“Words can’t describe them.

“Our fans deserved the three points after last week’s performance.

“I think we put a performance in for them, and we were desperately unlucky not to come away with the three points.

“They would have been aggrieved with the goal at the end though.”
