Uribe has named his 22-man squad for the Copa America 2007, Venezuela, but has left out the Newcastle United midfielder/defender.

No surprise really, Solano has never seen eye-to-eye with the coach and the Peruvian's "I'm ready if you want me" plea seemed a little desperate at the time.

Solano has had a strained relationship with the national association since 2005, when the 32-year-old decided to quit the national football team due to (the coach at the time) Freddy Ternero's preference of playing him at right-back. Solano said "I am not a defender and I have been blamed for recent defeats when I have been played out of position.

However ... this season Solano has been a revelation in that position playing for Newcastle.
