At first he said "judge me after eight games" which became "judge me after ten games ... but now ... having been judged as being a SHAMBLES ... things have changed.

McClaren admits Newcastle United have already shelved their ambitions to target the top eight this season – and has even talked of “having a party” if the club reach the 40-point mark.

When the transfer window closed at the start of September with the Magpies having spent more than £50m on new signings, managing director Lee Charnley boldly set out his targets for the rest of the campaign.
